Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) is India’s national regulatory authority for pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Established under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945, the CDSCO functions under the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. Its primary mandate to ensure the quality, safety, and efficacy of drugs and medical devices available in the Indian market. CDSCO responsible for the approval of new drugs for marketing, issuance of manufacturing licenses, and regulating the import and export of pharmaceuticals.
